noise 'music'. i had a brief friendship with someone who was deep into noise and hated when people catch-all called it noise music; myself included. i don't know about what's a category error and what's trivial hairsplitting. I do know that there is some music here, and there's some noise - feel free to academically parse it out, or feel free to not worry about it too much; this is sheer experimentation and not an ontological debate about sound and culture. my work has always been somewhere in the noise realm, but never outright noise. this is about as close as it gets to outright noise. i'm not too worried about it.

Album
The culmination of fucking everything I love in music; from Baritone crooning, confessional diary-entry folk, avant-garde poetry, noisey shoegaze guitar solos, overdrive autotune, and teetering past the Overton window of good taste.

Album
A collection of singersong-writer-ish songs recorded over the last ten years collected from disparate projects, my old mediafire account, and voice memos. some lush, harmonious, psychedelic, smitten, spontaneous, tunes. releasing these because I think they showcase the aims and ambitions of this project best - they have words with meaning.

(not an official album; a Bandcamp only release, or 'piece', or 'experiment' akin to my "time place sound[s] action text score" piece. I'll have a legit album out probably next week or week after... still have one more recording session with a steinway piano to do...)

Album
a treatise on doing what you love, and sticking with it, past the naive playground of your twenties. creative survival. an acceptance of the dicey persona you have to navigate as a white rapper. made this whole thing, ostensibly, with Pink Whitney.

Perfect Match

EP
scrappy, felt, sincere, and unpolished. four uke songs, with some added ambiance and production trickery. i was really into "blemish" by david sylvian, a uniquely produced record combinng sound art and acoustica seemlessly, when i put these together. these are songs born from insomania, 'remains of the day' anxieties, unprocessed grief, recontextualized memories, and productive self-doubt; like a pheonix rising from the ashes of a fever-dream of a mind palace. all, in good faith. working on band-ifying this stuff with chris stander.

Three songs I quite like that were recorded using my phone - not hifi enough for next album but a taste of my current direction. No softsynth or midi - all hands-on. Mixed in Bandlab entirely on my phone.

I made an album’s worth of footwork inspired / “experimental trap” tunes earlier in the year. The results were mixed. I decided instead to indulge in some quick, spirited, unpolished fun rather than my typical galaxy brained album indulgence. I am enamored with this polymath internet fella named Tim Rogers. He and his colleagues are obsessed with the failed Sega Saturn console. I have never played a Saturn game, but I like that they like it. This is the origin of the title. The music hardly mixed, totally unmastered, and for the grimiest, filthiest, dancefloor, and/or a gentle cybernetic menu of a Dreamcast game. Reed LeBere is my master of aesthetics.
Chain of Memories

Album
My mission statement was to make a dub-techno record in the style of Basic Channel. Some further influences took Chain of Memories off-course, including the 2021 film Memoria, Mega Man Battle Network, and the potential for 100+ BPM percussive music to maintain functional ambience. I aimed to make something more brutalistically working-class and discontented than my last two albums, as that is a territory of rhythmic music I’ve yet to explore in earnest, but found a need to be more expressive, jovial, and fun (I.E. major chords/keys) as I continued to create.

A true follow-up to Trip, loaded with plunderphonics elements, manically optimistic dance tracks, scattering drums and four-on-the-flour ambiance. For the night drive, for a goth rave, for toxic positivity. Lots of samples and finely customized drum sounds. Inspired by Aphex Twin, OPN, The Field, Daphni, Gas, Hyperpop, The Orb, LFO, Imogen Heap, and Fellini movies. Couple songs with Chris Stander.

Album
A slowly pieced together sample-based album in true ode-fashion to my favourite music of the last few years. I had it in my head that this was meant to be listened on a lengthy road trip when you start getting sick of the people you are tripping with, but ultimately it's just a very digital record of vaguely house-inspired, vapour-adjacent, electronic tunes.

Inspired by my friend Chris spending over an hour the dock at spider lake in an effort to mess with us, and succeeding. Very ambient. Lots of field recordings. Contributions from the aforementioned Chris Stander, my brother Cameron Meldrum, Jack Fletcher, and Jeremy Ugro.

Two songs that didn’t make the cut for By the Water, as one was too Grouper-esque, and another was too noisy.

An ode to the necessary long walk. Anxiety transforms into excitement, and each step takes you closer to home. Suggested listening is with headphones, late at night, while walking a familiar, but long trek home. As thoughtfully ambient as it gets. Featuring contribution from Ian Bawtinheimer, Sean Rea, Reed LeBere, and Andy March of CROSSS.

Recorded at the Philip T. Young Recital Hall in the Fall of 2018. Improvised for a recording class of Rowan McWilliams. A moody, mysterious free jazz tune. Seriously hi-fi and probably the coolest thing in my discography. I play tenor sax, with Andy March on Drums, and Keith Barr on Grand Piano. I’d love to revive this trio one day.

After a half-decade of lofi self-made stuff, I was talked into restarting as myself by Dave and Keenan. The legendary David Perry of Loving fame and I collaborated off-and-on together over a couple years on improvised tunes with whatever he had in his studio. All reel-to-reel. Free Jazz, neoclassical Ambience, and Krautrock music. Inspired by the freedom of mobility. Perry, Keenan of Elan Noon, and Noah Varley of NOVEL/Crack Cloud played on this. Almost made a sequel in the winter of 2021, but didn’t come together. Hopefully, this team will make beautiful music again some day.
